It is with deepest sadness I have to inform our students the passing of our Dojo’s well known and greatly respected and loved Denis better known for years as Grandad to all of us. After the very sad loss of Wayne much liked and respected student of ISKC now the loss of another great character Denis. He passed away last night at the grand old age of 97 years, he arrived with his wife and great grandson Kyle several decades ago, and supported Kyle through to his black belt. Coming to all the gradings and black and brown belt courses. Eventually Denis was at Kyle’s Dan grading after the words spoken you have passed Shodan, Denis was so very proud of his grandson’s accomplishments backed up by the biggest smile you ever imagine.
Denis carried on supporting ISKC for several years still coming to gradings and courses way after Kyle had left the Dojo to follow his career with no time for training. Denis even in his 80’s accompanied ISKC our travels to Brussels to watch us training with Sensei Sawada and introduce himself as grandad for all the students of ISKC which made Sensei Sawada smile he thought he was a great character so do we all.
Rest in peace Grandad you will be missed but never forgotten.
